Everything Eleanor Chirstmas - Part One

I decided to challenge myself and try something new, use a none Christmas stamp set to create Christmas cards.  For this challenge I used the Everything Eleanor stamp set from Stampin Up.

This is the most simple card I created with the stamp set.  The most time consuming part is cutting the red accent piece in the background.  That didn't take too long, so I could see this as being easily mass produced.

The center snowflake is done with a retired Stampin Up snowflake punch.

Please come back tomorrow and check out another Christmas card using this stamp set.
Thanks for stopping by,
Melanie

Primrose Snowflake

This card is another version of the card that I cased from Stamp with Heather.  I just love how the banners add extra detail and you can still stamp a sentiment at the bottom.

I used the Snow Flurry Die and the Bold Snowflake really make it pop.

For the snowflake, I used the Bold Snowflake stamp and the Snow Flurry snowflake die.

Primerose Snow Flurry

This card is a card I cased from Stamp with Heather.  She is a Stampin Up Artisan winner and has great projects.

For this card, I decided to go for a more nontraditional Christmas color scheme.  I used Stampin Up's Primerose Petals.  I really love the soft feel this gives the card.  The Snow Flurry die accents the embossed snowflake banners in the background.  Very simple and easy to create.

Snow Day

As you can see, I have really been using my new snowflake stamps and dies.  This next card was done with the Bold Snowflake stamp.  It is part of the new Single stamps from Stampin Up.  I purchased it because it also coordinates with the Blossom Punch.  I am all for making my crafting time efficient and punches such do that.

I heat embossed the snowflake with clear embossing powder for the background which plays well with the Midnight Muse snowflake and spiral punch accent in the forefront.

Happy Holiday Crafting,

Melanie

Winter Snow Flurry Christmas Card

This is another Winter Snowy Christmas Card and I just love how this turned out.  This is another version of the card that I posted yesterday

This was also created with the Snow Flurry die from Stampin Up, Woodgrain embossing folder and the Bold Snowflake.  The Bold Snowflake was is one of Stampin Up's new single stamps that coordinates with the Blossom Punch.  To finish off the card I used some Cherry Cobbler twine.

Enjoy your Christmas Crafting,
Melanie

Children's Ornament Series, Part Five - Rosette Snowflake Photo Ornament

Today is the final installment of my Children's Ornament Series and I have saved the best for last.  This is also the most difficult, but really is stunning.

Every year I create a photo ornament of my children to put on our tree, although my oldest is only 5 we already enjoy looking back at how each of them have grown.  I am especially excited this year because we get to add one for our newest addition, William.  Click here to see last year's photo ornament.

Again, I was inspired by my Stampin Up products in creating this ornament.  My Big Shot sure came in handy for this one.  Here are the Bigz Dies that I used:  Designer Rosette Die, Snowflake # 2 Die and the Snow Flurry Die.

I cut out the rosette from Very Vanilla cardstock, the Snowflake #2 was cut from Cherry Cobbler cardstock, and the Snow Flurry was cut from sparkly gold cardstock.  The patterned paper is retired DSP from Stamp Up, I got a great deal on it from the Clearance Rack.  Finally the stamp set I used the Hostess Mixed Medley Stamp Set.  I really like it because it covers all the Holidays.

I hope I have inspired you to get crafting with your kids, it is such wonderful time spent share what you love.  Again, if you have missed any in this series please come check out the Poinsettia, Snowflake, Scalloped Christmas Tree and the Scalloped Gingerbread Man.  These are also available for purchase at my Etsy Store, Melanie Makes.

Make those special memories,

Melanie

Children's Ornament Series, Part Four - Scalloped Gingerbread Man

In today's post of my Children's Ornament Series, we featured another cute scallop Gingerbread Man ornament.

We created this cute Gingerbread Man very similar to yesterday's Christmas Tree.  We  used many Stampin Up products including; the retired Scallop Circle #2 Bigz Die and the Secentsational Season Framelits featured in the Holiday Mini.  These were used to cut out the fun foam shapes.  The white scallop is cut out of the thicker 3/8" foam that they sell at Hobby Lobby.  To finish the ornament off, I also used Licky Limeaide Twine, Rhinestones and Gumball Green Stitched Ribbon.

If you missed the previous ornaments in this series please, check on the Poinsettia, Snowflake and Scalloped Christmas Tree here to see them.  These are also available for purchase at my Etsy Store, Melanie Makes.

Children's Ornaments Series, Part Two - Sparkly Snowflake

Welcome back for Part Two of my Children's Ornament series.  If you missed my post from yesterday with the Poinsettia Ornament, come check it out here.  Today's ornament is just as easy to assemble and another wonderful ornament craft to do with your children.

This Sparkly Snowflake was made with two Stampin Up Snowflake dies.  One is a retired die Snowflake #2 and the other is in this year's Holiday Mini Catalog, Snow Flurry die.  I used layers of white fun foam alternated with glitter paper.  These layers are held together with a rhinestone brad.

This ornament is also available in an ornament kit, please come check out my Etsy store, Melanie Makes.  This would make a great gift, stocking stuffer or activity for a play date.

Children's Ornament Series, Part One - Poinsettia Ornament

If your like me, you are always looking for cute crafts to do with your kids.  With the holidays coming and kids home from school, this Poinsettia Ornament fits the bill.

In looking at Tim Holtz's Tattered Florals die, I noticed the the middle sized flower looked very much like a poinsettia flower.

With this inspiration, I decided that I could make it into a really cute ornament.  To make it kid friendly, I used red and green fun foam.  For the center, I used a EK Success Flower Punch and a yellow rhinestone.

I am offering kits of this ornament and well as several others, come check them out at my Etsy Store, Melanie Makes.  This would make a great gift, stocking stuffer or activity for a play date.

Thanks for stopping in and as always happy crafting,

Melanie

Simply Thankful

Here are some fun simple thank-you notes that I made up recently to thank my friends for a wonderful birthday dinner.

I used some new stamps sets that I just received from Stampin Up.  The flowers are from a set called Summer Sillouettes and the sentiment is a set called Friendly Phrases.

Super Simple Sailor Costum

With having a new baby a little over a month ago, I knew the kids costumes were going to have to be easy.  No major sewing for me this year.

While vacationing near Willimington, NC, we visited the Battleship North Carolina.  At the gift shop Grammie bought the boys sailor hats.  They both really liked them, so that got me thinking about Halloween.

All we would need is a pair of navy blue pants (staple in any boy's closet) and a plain navy blue shirt.  We had a reversible belt with white on one side, so all we needed was the sailor collar.

I found this Sailor Collar Pattern online and used it for my template.  I also had some white flannel on hand to sew the collar out of, but you could use almost any fabric.  I was thinking of putting ribbon around it to finish it off, but I discovered that my sewing machine had some fancy stitches that would work nicely.  I used that stitch and sewed around the collar.

 Here is the final product:

I love the way this turned out, so I thought I would share with my fellow crafting friends.  I hope everyone had a safe Halloween.

Trick-or-Treat Halloween Favors

I wanted to share with you today the Fall / Halloween treat bags that I made for my son's kindergarten class.  This simple topper is made with all Stampin Up products.

I used the Top Note die and the retired "On the Spot" background and "Autumn Harvest" stamps.  I colored in the pumpkin with my AD markers from architecture school.  I was happy I found a good use for them.

For the teachers, I wanted to do something a little different.  I got this idea from my up line Brandy Cox at Brandy's Cards.  She has a great video tutorial on how to make these cute pumpkins.  They are great for Halloween, but also for Thanksgiving.

If you would like to check out my treats from last Fall / Halloween click here.

I hope everyone has a safe Halloween,

Melanie

Happy Birthday Everything Eleanor

What better excuse to get back into my craft room than to create a birthday card for a close friend.  I just got some new stamp sets from Stampin Up and wanted to try them out.

For this card, I used the Everything Eleanor stamp set and Cafe Comfort Designer Series paper.  I actually had to break out my scissors to cut some of the pieces, which is new for me.  I usually like to go with punches or die cuts.  It was very easy, so I will be cutting embellishments more often.

I used the Friendly Phrases stamp set for the sentiment.  This is a new set for me and it has so many great sentiments to use for a variety of occasions.

Now no birthday isn't complete without a little gift, I used the Stampin Up's Fancy Favor die box to create this cute bag.  I didn't have any coordinating tissue paper, so I ran some card stock through my paper shredding to finish it off.
Happy crafting,

Melanie

Baby Thank You Notes

Sorry it has been so long since my last post, but we have been going through many life changes over the past several months.  We were selling our house, have moved and just had baby.  We are finally getting settled and my craft room is for the most part set up.  I really have missed crafting and can't wait to get back into the swing just in time for all the wonderful holidays coming up.

First I wanted to introduce our latest addition to our family, this is William.  He was born on September 10th.  He is 2 weeks old now and time seems to be going by so fast.  It is so hard to believe that I am a mom to three wonderful & wacky boys.

Our friends have been helpful with chauffeuring my eldest to school, bringing meals and gifts of congratulations.  I wanted to send thank you notes to them for all the sweets gestures.

Using the Stampin Up's "Slice of Life" stamp set, the cuttlebug "Seeign Spots" and "Argyle" embossing folders and some punches.  Here is what I came up with:

Argyle Embossing Folder
Seeing Spots Embossing Folder
Stampin Up's "Slice of Life"

Have a wonderful week and happy crafting,

Melanie
