Driving Me Batty

This year is the year of the Bat in my family and my three sons are going to play the part.
I love to do simple sewing and this really fits the bill, because with three boys you know there isn't a lot of free time.  This cute design is from Alpha Mom website, you can visit her site to download a PDF of the steps.

I made a different mask which I got from Blog 5 to 9.

Together, they make the perfect bat.  As far as time, this only took me about an hour.  The second costume went even faster. Need something
quick and easy, look no further.

Happy Crafting.

Valentine Treats for School

I wanted to share with you my latest craft exploration for Valentine's day.  Here are the Valentine's that my children and I made for their school friends.

For the girls, we made these flower valentine's with the Blossom Punch by Stampin Up and the Island Floral die.  The "friendship" center of this flower is from a retired stamp set called "Thinking Happy Thoughts".  I had my son practice typing his friends names on the computer and we printed out the To and From banners.

For the boys, we made these gear shaped valentines.  We used the Basket and Blooms die along with the "Circle Circus" stamp set.

I really enjoyed spending time making in these with my boys.  They always love to use the big shot and help stamp.

Happy Crafting,
Melanie

Children's Ornament Series, Part One - Poinsettia Ornament

If your like me, you are always looking for cute crafts to do with your kids.  With the holidays coming and kids home from school, this Poinsettia Ornament fits the bill.

In looking at Tim Holtz's Tattered Florals die, I noticed the the middle sized flower looked very much like a poinsettia flower.

With this inspiration, I decided that I could make it into a really cute ornament.  To make it kid friendly, I used red and green fun foam.  For the center, I used a EK Success Flower Punch and a yellow rhinestone.

I am offering kits of this ornament and well as several others, come check them out at my Etsy Store, Melanie Makes.  This would make a great gift, stocking stuffer or activity for a play date.

Thanks for stopping in and as always happy crafting,

Melanie
