Handyman Father's Day Card

With Father's Day coming up, I wanted to come up with a new card for the great men in our lives.  Last year, I did the oragami men's shirt card, you can get instructions and take a look at it here.  This year, I decided to do a punch art card with wrenches.  There are great instructions of how to construct these wrenches at "Two Happy Stamper's" blog.

This card was easy to create with a few basic punches, aluminum foil (create faux metal), the Big Shot and assorted card stocks.  I first punched my wrench pieces and sponged the edges, the I ran several layers of aluminum foil through the Big Shot in an embossing folder then with Stampin Up's Apothecary Accents framlits dies.  I assembled my layers and added another Apothecary Accents die cut along with the "Happy Father's Day" sentiment.  The sentiment is from Stampin Up's "Teeny Tiny Wishes" stamp set and was punched out with the Modern Label punch also from Stampin Up.

For this card used the following punches:
3/4" Circle Punch
1 1/4" Circle Punch
1 3/4" Circle Punch
Stampin Up Word Window Punch
Stampin Up Itty Bitty Punch Scallop

I hope this gives you some ideas for the great men in your life,

Melanie

It's a Birthday Celebration!

This card was designed for a card stack class that I was planning.  It is another one that can be used as a masculine or feminine card.  Who doesn't like a cupcake?

This was made using the Stampin Up, "Creat a Cupcake" stamp set and the "Cupcake Builder Punch".  The papers I used have are the recently retired, "Just Add Cake"

Wedding Cake Pops "I Do" Tags

For my most recent adventure, I made these "I do" cake pop tags for a friend's wedding.  They are very into their perspective football teams, the husband a NY Giants Fan and the wife a Clemson Fan.  I think these fit the occasion perfectly with the their team colors.

This is such an easy project that could be used for any celebration; birthday, anniversary, wedding, get well or thank you. Really your options are endless. The cake pop tags were made with simple punches (2" Scallop and the "I do" from the Cricut Sweethearts cartridge.

My other friend is the amazing baker and she made the cake pops for the wedding and took these wonderful pictures for me.  Thanks Diana!

Happiest Birthday Wishes!

Here is a simple card that could be done in any color scheme to make it more masculine or feminine.  If you are like me a masculine card is always a little harder to come up with.

To make this I just used a series of squares and a corner rounder.  This is the perfect card for a beginner too, that might not have all the punches quite yet.  I used white card stock and Stampin Up's Pool Party paper. I also sponged the edges with coordinating ink Pool Party Ink from Stampin Up.  This in one of their "In Colors for 2011-2013".

I am sure you can come up with your own great combinations for this one.

End of the Year Teacher Bouquet

I can't believe my son graduated from preschool this week and to think that next year he will be on his way to kindergarten.  I wasn't as sad as I thought I would, but really happy and proud of all his accomplishments this year

Many of you who follow my blog might be familiar with this idea from last year's end of the year Teacher gift.  In order to thank Tyler's teacher and assistant, I made to gift card bouquets for each of them.  I got the idea from Disney Family Fun magazine.  I had other interested parents send me gift cards to include in the bouquet.  Here's how I made it:

I used the scalloped circle from "Accent Essentials" cartridge cut at 3.5" and the three flower layers are from "Plantin SchoolBook" cartridge, cut at 3", 2.75", 2.15".  I used a pencil to curl the edges up and used adhesive to stick the layers together.

The gift card envelope that the flowers are attached to is from the "Sweethearts" cartridge.  The dimensions are 7.15" wide x 3.30" high.  Once these were assembled, I attached the flowers that I made.  You could most certainly could use it with a Big Shoot or Cuttlebug and some of your favorite flower dies to create these as well.

Finally, I spray painted some bamboo skewers green and attached18 gauge wire to the skewers.  This made it more sturdy than last year's gift.  I then slipped the gift card flower envelopes to 18 gauge floral wire that I coiled at one end.  During this step, I also added the children's names to each of the gift cards.  I printed these out from the computer, punched them out and then attached with some hemp twine.

Here are some pictures of the other arrangement made for the assistant.

I think any person would love to receive this special arrangement.  I hope this inspires some great ideas for you all, I am really enjoying these paper flowers.

It's a Boy - Let's go Sailing

Are you ready to set sail?  I was totally enjoying making this little Sailboat card for another friend's baby shower.  It fit perfectly with the baby's nursery nautical theme.  She was even able to reuse the sailboat in her son's scrapbook.

The sailboat was cut from the "B is for Boy" Cricut cartridge.  The background was created using Stampin Up's Label's Collection Framelits Dies.  The swirls were done with an embossing folder and for the water I just tore some paper and inked the edges.

Such a sweet and simple card with a lot of impact.

Happy crafting,

Melanie

Elegant Flower Birthday Wishes

Here is a cute birthday card that I made with the Stampin Up "2011-2013 In Colors", Lucky Limeade and Calypso Coral.  I also used the new Labels Collection Framelits Dies for the green background.  It coordinates so well with Stampin Up's other punches  I used the retiring "Funky Four" stamp set along with "Circle Circus".
